A special day with a special someone

Although it's not the official day, it's a day to celebrate me and yin sin's 1 year of our relationship. It's not really easy to maintain a relationship with someone. This is by far the longest relationship I'm involved in.

Anyway, we took the opportunity during our recess week and celebrate it a week earlier. Tried to avoid the soon-to-be humongous crowd over the weekend due to the F1 Street Race and odd hours traveling around Singapore is fun! No human traffic. No crowd... =D

So, we left in the morning and headed towards City Hall. I wanted to bring her to the Singapore Flyer but not wanting her know. We walked from City Hall, to Esplanade, across the F1 circuit heading to middle of nowhere but actually, towards the Singapore Flyer. By the time we reached there, I told her that we'll just go in to take a look around and before she even realizes it, I was handing the ticket for the security clearance. lol..

As I was saying, there was no human traffic and both of us got the entire capsule all to ourselves!! That's where I gave her her gift. The view was quite good and there's no human hindrance for the windows!

We also got a glimpse to some of those luxurious cars in the event of the F1 Night Race

After that, we had lunch at Carl's Jr (Yin Sin hasn't tried it before) and watched an afternoon movie at Marina Square; Mamma Mia! The songs in the movie are very nice! But I find the storyline so-so.. But the songs are nice.. haha

We shopped for a bit; walked a bit; ate & drank a bit... Then it's off to Ma Maison for dinner! Yin sin loved the place. Service was good and we went at the right time. 30min after we went in, the restaurant is full house!

We had escargots (she never tried it before)

I had Beef with Butter Rice (Beef Stroganoff with Omu Rice)

Yin Sin had some spaghetti that I can't remember the name

After dinner, we just strolled around Clarke Quay area and walked all the way back to Raffles Place via Boat Quay. Such a fun and relaxing day... =)

Recess!!

It's the recess week now and it's time to take some time off from everything!

I've spent the weekends in KL to see my 2nd sister's new house in gombak and my brother's new house in Desa ParkView @ Kepong.

My sis house is very nice! A 3 storey terrace house.. First storey is where the living room and kitchen is. 2nd storey is where all the rooms are and 3rd storey is the family room where it has its own tv, couches and a pantry filled with snacks!
And my brother's house.. the landscaping is verrry nice.... the community is nice.. the place is nice.. it's like staying in a resort..

it's nice to just chill out with the family. Play with my nieces, loiter around watching tv and finding things to munch on. Those are just the two days over the weekend.

Left with another 2 more days in ipoh.. I spent the entire day today running errands in ipoh; go to the bank, cut my hair, photocopy books, buy bus tickets... then spend the evening onlining and sleeping... Met up with euwen at night for a light snack. It's been quite a long time since I last went out with him.. pretty fun... but too bad was only for a while.. my stomach was quite full to fit stuff in. only went to eat ngou lam mee. Come back, see what's on tv... and if there's nothing nice.. online! had a nice time chatting though.. been quite a while to have crazy fun chats.. lol... oh well, back in ntu..won't have lots of time for all these... =/

one more day to be at home. i wonder what will it be for me.. stay at home and just do nothing for the entire day? or go out and see what's new in town..?

Tagged by Thean Seng

Feeling a bit wuliao today and went to read friend's blogs... I saw elaynne's tag and was about to do her tag but since Thean Seng "officialy" tagged me, shall do his instead. sorry, elaine.

Rules:

1. Each player of this game starts off with 15 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself.

2. People who get tagged need to write a post of their own 15 weirdthings/habits/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly.

3. At the end, you need to choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names.

4. No tag backs!!

Gabriel’s weird things/habits/little known facts:
1. I always wanted to be a doctor when I was a kid. But think that ambition is quite hard to achieve knowing how difficult it is to score a full straight As in STPM so that I can further my studies in medicine in local universities; hence, i forgo the idea and ended up in NTU instead to study engineering

2. I have a full book collection of "How My Body Works" where I collected since I was a kid.

3. I have a nail-biting habit

4. I used to have an in grow toe-nail

5. My first phone is a Nokia 3210 at the age of 17

6. That particular phone, I'm supposed to share it with my mum.. But it became mine in the end.

7. I prefer not to eat spicy food

8. I used to cheat in exams during high school years. (Discuss with friends for monthly tests)

9. I used to be a VERY VERY QUIET and SHY person.

10. I had my first crush when I was 6 years old.

11. My mum is a Mandarin teacher and I can't speak Mandarin for nuts... until, I met Yin Sin of course..

12. I record down every single money transaction I make everyday.

13. I used to love numbers a lot. I play with the calculator to find patterns when I have nothing to do when I was a kid

14. I joined the Malaysian Mensa Society at the age of 13

15. My gf is 153cm tall and I love her very much.

The people I'd like to tag...
Anyone free enough to do this... (you know who you are.. *winks*)

How to find love?

I read this in Edy Chandra's Facebook and I thought it's something worth sharing.
Enjoy. =)

A philosophy student once asked his teacher how he could find his LOVE and be sure of it? The teacher then brought him to a garden with lots of trees. He said "Go inside the garden, and pick a stick that you think the finest, most appealing and supportive. But you can only choose and pick one. If u decide to go pass one and move on..then you are not allowed to go back and pick it later. You can only go forward and decide once you see the one you want. Plain and simple!"

The student then stepped in. He first found a good one, but he thought he would get a better one if he went further. He passed the first one. Then he sighted the second one, but he decided to pass and go further expecting to get a better one. He kept repeating doing this until he got to the end of the garden, but with no single stick with him. Then he realized that he had walked passed hundreds of good sticks and every single of them has its own uniqueness. But he didn't pick one because he always compared the real one with the imaginary one. That's why he failed to choose and pick one for himself.

The moral of the story is:
Finding LOVE is plain and simple as long as you have your feet stepped on earth. Don't try to compare the one you have found with the one in your head. Cause you'll never find it..........

Can't wait to go home

The one week break is nearing~!! with only 4 more days of schooling...
I don't really feel like the holidays are coming.

On Wednesday, I have to have a progress update for my FYP in which, I'm kind of stuck now (trying to know and understand how to deal with bispectrum analysis);
On Thursday, I have a HRM presentation where I'm waiting to be 'shot at';
Next Wednesday is the Database Assignment that I have not start yet;
And my Web Application Design where I have to come out with something by the end of next week.

I can't wait to go back this weekend to just get away from all these. Go visit my siblings' new houses; and the Raya Week, a family trip at Cameron Highlands!! I'm gonna skip my Thursday and Friday classes for that cause stupid Singapore only has 1 day holiday instead of 2 days back in Malaysia.

When I'm back, I'm gonna eat lots of mooncakes and sleep like a log..

Project Intensive Semester

This semester, it's all about projects. Even most of my CAs are projects. By the end of the month, I have lots of deadlines to meet... Not to mention the continuous effort that I have to put in for my FYP and HRM..

Here's a list of what's installed for me this semester.

  1. Computer Security Assignment (CA)
    - Literature Review on any Computer Security related system
    - Due 19 Sept

  2. Database Systems Assignment (CA)
    - create an E-R Model for my FYP
    - I've no idea how to start on this cause my FYP doesn't use any database
    - Due 24 Sept

  3. Web Application Design Project
    - create a Java intensive program which uses Java Servlets, JSP, JDBC for a real life issue

  4. Digital Image Processing Assignment (CA)
    - more details will be given to us next week
    - an example given by lecturer (with reference to Stamford undergrad assignment):
Design a face detection algorithm. By the end of the day, student who are able to detect the most number faces of a picture (which will only be known on the day of evaluation) will get the most marks.

  5. Human Resource Management
    - presentation on 18 Sept
    - yet to interview customers and tabulate data for strategy canvass

  6. Software Engineering CA
    - to be studied for next Tuesday

  7. Final Year Project
    - Basically, it's literature review now. Have to study and understand more on Bispectrum Analysis.

Does this mean I will have less free time now? *sigh*

Ventriloquist - Terry Fator

I got introduced to this ventriloquist by Boon Jin where he gave me a youtube link of him in the America's Got Talent.

I tell you, AMAZING is an understatement for him..

Some of my favourite videos..

Terry Fator singing "At Last"

"What A Wonderful World"

Terry Fator singing "That's Amore"

His finale performance singing a Country Song and impersonating Kermit the Frog

MSA Merdeka Night 2008

Shall start reminisce a bit..

Merdeka Night 2005
The theme was Back to School and we had to dress up in our high school uniforms. Was my first year as a freshie and it was quite alright i think.

Merdeka Night 024 (by P3rSeUs)

Merdeka Night 05 (by P3rSeUs)

Merdeka Night 2006
The theme was Mazquerade and I was the Chief Programmer at that time along with Xian Ching and Lai Fai. It was something different for MSA as it now involves more 'sophistication' rather than just gather and hang out. The venue was very nicely done and It's more performance intensive with just a few games due to restriction of dress-code.

Merdeka Night 2007
The theme was "Colours of Malaysia" and people come in the colours found in the Malaysia Flag. I was in the dance performance "Rokkugoh". I think it was quite good.. and the 'final year' sketch was pretty commendable. In general, I didn't really enjoy it that much cause I don't really have any strong memories regarding it. Maybe just a game where we have to pass bananas in between our legs... =/

Rokkugoh Dancers (by P3rSeUs)

Merdeka Night 2008
The theme this year is Musical!. Participants are to dress up to one of the 4 genres, i.e. Rock, Oldies, Hip Hop and Jazz.

Again, I was in a performance that resembles "Stomp" where we make music out of household items; pails, wok chan, cups, spoon, fork

Personally, I think the dance was great, the "Melaka Merdeka" sketch was also great and of course, the Stomp Performance! It'll be my last performance and participation as a MSA member.
Over the past few years, I think I was pretty active in MSA.

  • MSA Main Comm for Publicity and Publications for 2 years
  • GL for FOC 2006
  • Chief Programmer for Merdeka Night 2006
  • Programmer for FOC 2007
  • SA for FOC 2008
  • Performed for ICFF for 2 years.

Can't really remember the other details....

Okay, back to topic....
That day itself, I didn't know what to wear for Merdeka Night 08'. Was chatting with De Zien during rehearsal and spontaneously, we decided to SUIT UP for the day where we pakat with Zhi Sin, Wai Seng and Yi Wang too!

And here's the result.

Also, I had to change to a different entire for my performance.

Overall, this year's Merdeka Night was quite good. Too bad, can't see how the other coming Merdeka Nights will be.
