Lunch Buffets by Agilent Technologies

One great thing working in Agilent is that for the end of every quarter, there will be a lunch buffet celebration!

To recap, the first was at The Strait's Kitchen @ The Grand Hyatt Hotel. It was for the Q1'08 Celebration.

The second was at Cafe Biz @ Traders Hotel. Just a team lunch since some big boss came over from the US.

and this is the THIRD! It's at The Line Shop @ Shangri-La Hotel.

However, unfortunately for me, I fell ill the day before with flu, slight tonsil irritation and cough. I did not recover fully but I tried my best to consume whatever I can on that day.

So.. here it is...

First and foremost, I took picture with Boon Jin and my Supervisor, Mr. Liu Yiyuan who has been a great boss and regularly provides us with lots of motivation and encouragement throughout the entire attachment period.

The Interns and their Supervisor

From my face, you can see that I wasn't feeling very well. Anyway, on to the place itself!

I skipped the appetizer and went straight to the main course!
Nevertheless, I took a creme of tomato and it was MarVellous!!

The Main Course

By following the link by clicking on the picture, there are labels to all the different meats that I had. There's chicken, beef, salmon, sausage, lamb all in one plate!

The sausage is the killer cause it's long and thick! On normal occasions, one piece of those sausage is enough to last a meal.

But after those food, I went for my 2nd round which consists of:

Roast Duck and Roast Pork
Roast Duck Drumstick and Roast Pork

AND

Second Helping

Pizza, Lamb Neck, Satay, Chicken, etc. etc.

Again, I wasn't in a tip-top condition and my digestive systems ain't as efficient, I stopped at round 2 (i had to forgo the oysters, prawns, crabs, sushis, sashimis, etc)

Selection of seafood
I have to skip those delicious seafood above.....

and went straight to dessert.

Yummy... desserts

From the vast selection, I could only select a few.... And here's what I have.

Round 3...

Dessert Cups

Because everything is so creamy and mousse-y, I was dead beat after those. I didn't take the ice-cream and fruits. sighz.

Oh well, I think I've accomplished quite a bit. I came, I ate, I conquered.

Roller Blading and Popeyes

It was Wesak Day on Monday and being a public holiday, I took the opportunity to go out and burn myself out for the day so that I'll be terribly tired for work the following morning.....

Anyway, this time round, I went to East Coast Park (again) with Elaynne, Zhi Sin, Wai Seng, De Zien, Yi Wang, Shaun, Jane, Guo Liang and of course, Yin Sin. The objective of this trip is actually a 'training session' for Zhi Sin and Guo Liang to learn up cycling so that we're able to go for night cycling one of these days. And since some of us didn't know how to blade as well, we went for blading sessions too!

The last time I bladed was with Mei Yuet, her friend Pui Lee and Kian Hwat. At that time, it was really horrible as it was my first time blading while the 3 of them already knew how to blade!!! Hence, I was left alone most of the time trying to get myself not to fall and self-learn how to blade. Towards the end of that session, I was able to not fall after more than 5 minutes blading on the ground!

This time, it was much better. Probably because the shoe is in a better condition. I think I only fell once on my own. But it was still quite embarassing as it was Yin Sin's first time blading but I couldn't help her with it cause I can't control myself very good either. There was once I actually rolled over her fingers! Ouch..

But fortunately, Yi Wang and Shaun were kind enough to guide her and teach her how to blade. Sometimes, I kind of wish I'm a girl. She has so many people to teach her how to blade! Oh well....

After that, we went to Changi Airport T1 for Popeyes!! It's something like KFC but it's crispier and smaller. The side dishes are different. The mash potatoes and the cajun fries are really nice and different from the ones that we normally have. The coleslaw is pretty standard though. We separated when we went back where Jane, Guo Liang, Yin Sin and I went back to NTU while Elaine and Zhi Sin waited for her aunt to arrive at the airport and the rest went to watch IronMan.

Crazy Fun

Last Saturday was packed with fun-filled and crazy activities.
1) Singapore Flickr Meetup - Kwong Hou Sua Teochew Cemetery (Photography Outing)
2) Singapore Freeze - Orchard Road
3) Pizza for Dinner
4) Risk
5) Supper

To start off, yes... it's a bit crazy to be shooting cemeteries. But heck, what's a little craziness in our lives? I was supposed to be at Kranji at 8am but luckily, Soo Fan and Mei Yuet are going back to KL from JB in the morning and I had company from NTU to Kranji.
After meeting up with Nisa, the organizer for the photography shootout, the group went to their first location:

Kranji War Cemetery

The place is beautiful. I mean, I wouldn't mind being buried here. It's so calm and peaceful. But for all the freedom fighters fighting for the future generations, they sure deserve such a place for them.

All the people who died, protecting future generations

War Cemetery

Their Name Liveth For Evermore

After that, we proceeded to Kwong Hou Sua Teochew Cemetery. just about 5 min drive from the war memorial.

Kwong Hou Sua Teochew Cemetery

The kind of graveyard here is so different with the war memorial. It's scattered and without proper paths and tilings. Probably with the exception of rich families with more than 1 wife. In fact, it's quite common to see graveyards with more than 1 wife. The most was 7 wifes!!

The Man with 4 wifes

Here's an example of a grave with a few wifes. If you see 5 names, means they have 4 wifes. The centre is the husband's name and the sides are the wifes' names. The bottom red represents their surname and the 2 green characters are their chinese middle name. And wifes are normally buried with their husbands so that they can have an everylasting life together in heaven.

We then had lunch at Yew Tee shopping mall as we really need some air-conditioning after having a long walk under the hot sun.

Then, I met up with my gf to proceed to Orchard to have our briefing to our Singapore Freeze at Youth Park.

So, what happened was, there were more than 400 people gathered outside Takashimaya and Ngee Ann City and at 1630 hrs, we just stop doing whatever we're doing and 'freeze' there for 5 minutes! At that time, I was drinking a cup of Big Gulp and you can see me in the youtube video above; a Channel News Asia commentary. =)

Went back Hall at night for a pizza get-to-gether with Elaine, Zhi Sin, Wai Seng, De Zien, Yi Wang, Jane, Guo Liang, Shaun, etc.

For so many of us, we ordered 4 large pizzas from Saprino.

We ate, talked and after filling our stomachs, we continued with a game (or two games) of Risk!

Risk Board Game

Lots of battles and 'fights'. Yi Wang being wiped out twice and I was just barely surviving. De Zien won both of the games with his aggressive stance towards the game.

the Battle Begins

The red armies are Yi Wang's Ghost Armies, BLUE represents De Zien trying to wipe out GREEN Guo Liang.

We were too bored at a few occasions of all the ruthless killing in "America" and we decided to torture a prisoner of War in Asia.

Got "gang-raped"
Got 'gang raped'

After the game, we header for supper at 12am at Ah Fang and chatted there until like 3am. The rest are still crazy enough to remain at Wai Seng's room to play and talk and work until 7am.. lolz

Lost

The happy-go-lucky and the lackadaisical side of me is a double edged sword. On one hand, it keeps me content with my life and be happy with it.
On the other hand, it keeps me from doing my best, achieving something that I'll be able to achieve if I put the effort in it..

I always make the simplest mistake and lose opportunities when it's just right there.

The lone tree

I'm like this tree... drowning, barren, and waiting to be consumed by the very source of life it feeds on.

BBQ Dinner & Night Cycling

The hall 8 Acapella Group organized an overnight stay at Aloha Loyang as an outing to bond its members. It was on a Sunday night for the cheaper rate of $70 a night for one whole unit complete with rooms, fridge and freezer, a gazebo and a bbq pit!

I went there at about 4pm with Soo Fan from NTU. It's all the way to Pasir Ris and we hve to take a cab from the interchange. Once there, we started preparing the stuff for BBQ dinner.

Hall 8 Acapella Outing

I started the fire for the pit! haha.. it's been a while since I start any fire building. The last time was like, what? Scouting days back in Form 3? But it was a success after all but took a much longer time only. Haha

There were lots of food for everyone! With only about 15 of us, the food sure looks abundant.

Chicken drummets and chicken wings

Grilled Fish

Cuttlefish balls with cheese, Crab Sticks and Sausages

Of course, the must.. Marshmallows!
Grilling Marshmallows!

There were also corns, ice-cream, jellies, Green Tea, A&W Rootbeer, etc. etc.

The BBQ was great, fire was decent, food was delicious. Thank God that it didn't rain.

Food on the Grill

We chatted, we fooled around and it was quite a nice atmosphere. Then, there's also ghost story sessions where it resembles the campfire experience. BoyScouts gathering round the fire grilling marshmallows while sharing ghost stories in the 'middle of the night' surrounded by deadly creatures and possibly ghosts....

After that, we gathered round for some ice-cream and some light chit chats before heading on for the Night Cycling Session to East Coast Park

For the journey to ECP, we travelled route C, D, E and F. It's about 17km of non stop cycling which is equivalent to 3 hours of ass pain!

Night Cycling

All of that is just to get to ECP for McDonald's! haha... but it was worth the fun and the long long journey along the way

All of us who went for night cycling

It was another 2 hours ride back along route G and route B. we got lost halfway and took the normal car roads on the way back. Luckily we got lost, otherwise it'll be another 3 hours to cycle the way back along the park connectors.

Everyone was shagged and half dead when we reached back. Happy at the same time cause we finally get to rest our butt.

After the long 5 hours of cycling

Oh, Soo Fan and I still had to go to work in the morning. We reached at about 530am, took a bath and a short nap. Then, we left at 645am to work. Madness, I tell you...

Final Year Project Selection

The release of Final Year project is out! With the massive amount of choices, I really do not know which one to choose. Should I choose something interesting but potentially hard, or something easy, boring and mundane just to get it over with. Or something elaborate so that there's more challenge and excitement in it?

I've no idea. When ask advice from others, they would say 'choose the professor, not the project'. On the contrary, if we don't like what we do, what's the point of doing it?

So, should I be choosing something like this?

Hard

Hard, technical and probably useful in the near future....

Or something like this?

Ninja Turtle

Ninja Turtle.
hmm.. that is something you don't see everyday. I wonder if they should create a title called "Iron Man"

Feng Shui

This is even better! Mix science and chinese feng shui!! Maybe the software comprises of the popular feng shui compass.. I don't think this will be easy though.

Wedding

Wedding planners anyone? Need to hire an engineer to help you plan weddings? Can really save all your headache!
