Merdeka Night 2007

IMHO, this year's Merdeka Night was a great success. The theme is "Colours of Glory" and the participants are to wear clothes based on 4 primary colours of Malaysia's flag, i.e. red, yellow, blue or white. The emcees were great, the preparation was all very well done. The performances; the Sketch, Jam Band, Cat Walk, Rukkugoh Dance and the MK Dance were all very well done. Sketch this year was done by the year 3s and year 4s. The sketch was called "ninja tortoises" where combined together, they have to defeat the 4Rs. Rompak, Rogol, Rasuah and Rosak! It was funny and quick-witted. Think It's one of the best sketches for Merdeka Night so far.

Even the games were not bad at all. We played "simon says", pass the bananas. There was an item where the instructions were given out in Malay. Lol. And I can't believe I forgot to mention bout food! Food was catered from Canteen 5. Surprisingly, the food was marvelous. Canteen 5 is a newly opened canteen in NTU under a new management. So, I suppose to build up their reputation, they have to serve good food. Not like last year, where we catered from can 4. The food was just so-so and the service provided by them was lousy. Even during FOC, we catered from Café by the Quad and it was lousy.

I took part and performed in the Rukkugoh Dance. It's quite funny as we got the songs and dance steps from YouTube, performed by a Japanese group called Super Junior T. The dance moves were silly, funny and stupid. Nevertheless, it's all for the pleasure and entertainment of the audiences. So, we didn't really mind although it doesn't really look that professional.

The Rokkugoh Dance people

And of course, the participants themselves were very 'on'. They can be played, know how to play and well… they're just great! Freshies this year, as I've said before are very enthusiastic. They can take their own initiative to lighten up the atmosphere or at least, some of them would. Anyway, all's well, ends well. I wonder what would be in stored for next year's Merdeka Night. It would be my final one.

Crazy seniors (3rd years and 4th years) getting all hyped up
